Key Lento Is Official: What Rockstar's New Screenshots Confirm About Leonida's Map
A highway sign in Rockstar's new GTA 6 screenshots names Key Lento, the Keys Causeway and a Vice City Oceanarium. Here's what's confirmed and what's a guess.
Sometimes the best GTA 6 reveals are hiding on a road sign. One of the three new screenshots Rockstar added to the Music page of its GTA VI site on October 8 puts a name on the map that fans have been throwing around for a while: Key Lento.
We downloaded the official images from rockstargames.com at their full 3840ร2160 resolution and read the signs for ourselves. Here's what's actually printed in the game and what's still guesswork.
Confirmed: the highway signs
The daytime screenshot looks across a busy elevated highway toward the Vice City skyline. A row of green overhead signs runs above the traffic. They read:
- "Keys Causeway", with a route shield "TO" a US 1 shield, a left-turn arrow, and the destinations "Key Lento" and "Leonida Keys." The first shield is too blurry to read.
- "South Vice City," with an I-97 shield, an airport symbol and a US 35 shield.
- "Vice City Oceanarium ENTRANCE," with an arrow pointing to the exit.
"Leonida Keys" was already known as a region; it's one of the areas listed in LOVE magazine's new interview with Rockstar. What the sign adds is Key Lento, a named destination along that route, plus a road called the Keys Causeway. Map-tracking site MapHeist says that until now Key Lento was only on fan maps built from leaked material, which is why it hadn't used the name. MapHeist also points out that an oceanarium is something Rockstar had never mentioned before.
Confirmed: the other two shots
- The night street: a supercar on rain-soaked asphalt, with neon reflected in the puddles and a "Hotel Dixon" sign in the background. A police SUV has its lights on, and rental-style e-scooters stand on the sidewalk.
- The car meet: a crowd gathers in a parking lot at night under a "Conch King" diner sign. Cars with underglow are parked around the lot, and a gas station is in the background. A painted sign at the lot's entrance reads "Welcome to La Perle." La Perle is a district name that, according to MapHeist, also appeared in Trailer 2.
Fan interpretation (not confirmed by Rockstar)
- Key Lento = Key Largo. The community reads Key Lento as Leonida's version of Key Largo, the first big island of the Florida Keys heading south from Miami. That's a reasonable guess based on the real geography, but Rockstar hasn't said so.
- The golden dome is the oceanarium. A building with a golden, honeycomb-patterned dome sits by the water near the Oceanarium sign. MapHeist suggests it could be the oceanarium but flags that as its own guess, because nothing in the image labels it.
- La Perle = Little Haiti. MapHeist links the crown sign in Haitian-flag colors and a nearby painted truck to Miami's Little Haiti. That's a strong case, but it's still an interpretation.
- Refueling. A figure stands at a gas pump next to a car. That doesn't confirm that players will need to refuel their own cars.
The takeaway
Three background images gave us a road out to the Keys, a named island destination and a new Vice City landmark. If you're plotting your first drive, Key Lento is now an official name. Where exactly it sits on Leonida's map will have to wait until launch on November 19, 40 days from now.
