GTA VI Pre-load Starts Nov 12: Storage, Editions, and What to Do This Week

GTA VI launches in 38 days, and pre-loading opens in 31. Here's what Rockstar, Take-Two and the console stores have officially confirmed, plus a few things worth doing now.

The key dates

Pre-load: November 12, 2026, at local midnight, for digital pre-orders, according to Rockstar Support. The PlayStation Store calls it a "7-Day Pre-load."

Launch: Thursday, November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The US PlayStation Store lists the unlock as 05:00 UTC, which is midnight Eastern.

Editions and prices (from Take-Two's pre-order announcement)

Standard Edition: $79.99.

Ultimate Edition: $99.99. It adds what Take-Two calls "an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action" across the story. The PlayStation Store lists it as the game plus an "Ultimate Edition Upgrade."

Bonuses

Vintage Vice City Pack: included with all pre-orders and purchases made before November 20, 2026.

One free month of GTA+: for digital pre-orders only. On PlayStation, Sony's terms say the offer ends November 19, must be redeemed by March 31, 2027, and auto-renews at the regular price unless you cancel.

The "physical" version has no disc

Rockstar Support says the boxed version contains a download code, and "A disc will not be included in the box." Boxes are expected at retailers from November 12, and codes redeemed before launch can pre-load that day. There's no physical Ultimate Edition. If you buy the boxed Standard Edition, you can buy the Ultimate Edition Upgrade from the PlayStation or Microsoft stores once your code has been redeemed.

Reported: TheGamer reported that Amazon US briefly sold out of boxed pre-orders in June and then restocked. A separate report described sold-out allocations at some local Target stores, based on one shopper's post. That isn't a nationwide sellout.

Storage: not announced yet

Rockstar hasn't published a download size. When we checked Monday, the US PlayStation Store listing didn't show one either. Ignore any figure you see online until the stores or your console show the real number.

Do this week

• Free up space now. Delete or archive games you aren't playing.
• Check your code. If you bought a box, redeem it on the account you'll play on as soon as it arrives.
• Leave your console online. Keep it in rest or sleep mode with automatic downloads turned on the night of November 11.
• Mute spoilers. Leaked footage is circulating. Mute words like "GTA 6 leak," "Cyberleek" and "GTA 6 ending" on social apps, and turn off YouTube recommendations for GTA videos you didn't choose.
