Wynwood Walls, the open-air street-art museum in Miami, announced on Oct 13 that Miami-Dade County residents can now get in free through 2028. Rockstar Games is the presenting partner. To mark the launch, ten new murals tied to GTA VI went up in Wynwood. They're on view until Jan 1, 2027.

How locals get in free

According to Wynwood Walls' own page:

  1. Set up a free digital membership online or at the Welcome Center, using a valid photo ID or student ID that shows a Miami-Dade County address.
  2. Add the card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.
  3. Show it at the entrance during open hours.

Kids under 12 are always free, and residents can add family members under 18 to their membership. Visitors from outside the county pay standard prices, which the museum's press release puts at $12 for adults, with discounts for some groups.

Free entry covers the outdoor murals and sculptures, indoor shows at the Goldman Global Arts Gallery, a hands-on spray-painting experience and a coming artist-in-residence program.

The GTA VI murals

GTA VI's Vice City includes an area called Stockyard that's inspired by Wynwood Walls, the press release says. The ten new murals use original artwork commissioned for the game, and they were produced by Goldman Global Arts. The artists are Miami's ATOMIK and Tatiana Suarez, plus Askew One, DENIAL, FAILE, Gons and Audet, Lady AIKO, Queen Andrea, Ron English and Tristan Eaton. Eaton's mural is on the Wynwood Walls campus, and the others are around the neighborhood.

Wynwood Walls says these artists' work appears in the game alongside other street and tattoo artists curated by 1XRUN, a Detroit-based agency. FAILE also designed the 50+ tattoos at the game's Electric Fang Tattoo parlor, an Ultimate Edition location, according to the PlayStation Store listing.

Merch

An "Art of Vice City" capsule collection with in-game art from 15 artists is on pre-order through the Wynwood Walls shop.

Why it matters locally

It's another piece of Rockstar's South Florida campaign, alongside the "Welcome to Vice City" sign on the Kaseya Center and the Heat's Nov 18 "Vice City" game. Unlike a billboard, this one leaves residents with something that lasts past launch: free museum entry for two-plus years.

GTA VI launches Nov 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
